Night time is the right time – Maral & Samy pt1

I have always been very lucky with the amazing couples who book me for their weddings and Maral & Samy are no exception. Last week we went out for a few hours late in the evening to get both daytime and nighttime shots and I really enjoyed my time with them. I’m still working on their pictures but couldn’t resist posting a few of the nighttime shots.

Knowing a venue and the flow of a wedding ceremony can be a valuable assets and good reasons for hiring an experienced photographer for your wedding. When Lori explained to me where their ceremony was to take place I visualised a concept, in my minds eye, for a picture made up of a series of images I would take and then later ‘stitch’ together. Having already figured this out I was able to run downstairs during the ceremony to take the necessary pictures and be back upstairs without missing anything.

The result – a unique view of a unique venue!

It was wonderful to photograph and be a part of Lori and Malcolm’s wedding. Lori was in my wife’s grade six class for her first year of teaching and now she’s all grown up and married! For the wedding day we were blessed with an early taste of summer making a trip to the beach a must for some of the pictures. The reception was then held at the wonderfully quirky Church at Berkeley, always a great backdrop for pictures. Here’s a little taste of the day; much more to come later!

On the weekend we went north in search of snow – something that has been sorely lacking this winter in Toronto. We found it in abundance and on Saturday braved a snowstorm for a somewhat hairy drive into Algonquin Provincial Park to go for a hike in the woods. Well worth the effort!

Trista the Super Chef!

I was excited to get a call a couple of weeks ago informing me that a client who’s wedding we photographed a few years ago is to be a contestant in the next season of Top Chef Canada. I remember the wedding well; not only were Trista and Nick and their wedding party great fun to work with but the meal, at Scaramouche, was quite possibly the best I’ve ever had at a wedding (or anywhere for that matter!) and I’ve had some pretty damn good meals over the years at Toronto’s top wedding venues.

So, here’s remembering Trista and Nick’s wedding and wishing Trista the best of luck over the coming weeks – we’ll be rooting for you Trista!!
